Just a quick note about the farm store. We will not be open for the 2017 Season for a few more weeks. Right now we are bringing what we have to our markets in Lee’s Summit and Harrisonville on the Square. We will keep you posted here for an update to when we are officially open on the farm for the season. Thanks!
While it’s still a work in progress, we’re happy to announce our little storefront on the farm is now open! Every Tuesday through Saturday, from 2pm to 6pm, come out and shop our selection of seasonal produce, pastured pork and free-range eggs at your leisure. We’re also adding our jams, fruit butters and other items as we go.
There’s still plenty of work to be done, but we want everyone to have the ability to come pick their items in case you miss farmer’s market or find you’ve run out of pork chops just before a bbq.
To get here, head south on 71 Hwy to the Peculiar exit. Follow C Hwy west, then south, through town to the City Lake Park. Turn left at 233rd Street (at the corner of the City Lake). Follow 233rd as it curves south; you’re now on Cowger Rd. We are 3/4 of a mile from the curve (just past 237th Street) on the left side of the road. The white mailbox with our house numbers, 23901, is on the right; the driveway is immediately across. Look for the hog feeder painted with our logo in the front drive.

It’s been crazy rainy this spring, but we’re not complaining. In 2012, the first year we started working the 40-acre farm we’re on now, we had a horrible drought. There was hardly any rain in the spring, no rain through the summer, and 20 days of 100° weather! Our ponds ran dry and it was an extremely difficult year. Since then, we refuse to complain about the rain. It just takes a different strategy to work around the showers and get things in the ground. We think this rain will provide a nice bounty this year, assuming we can seeds planted!
We’re working a lot in raised beds and in the greenhouse to combat the muddy, soaked fields. On the days when it’s dry enough in the field, we’re getting as much planted as physically possible. It’s become quit the game that we’re sure will pay off this year.
